Il disorientamento dello spettatore affezionato al tradizionale racconto sulle vicende di Maria, Giuseppe e del piccolo Gesù, emerge non appena la sceneggiatura si infila nei silenzi del vangelo e ricostruisce vicende plausibili, ma frutto della fantasia. Oppure quando nasconde angeli e stelle e il divino resta celato negli sguardi e nei sorrisi. D’altra parte il film conserva i punti cardine della fede: il concepimento miracoloso di Maria, la sua verginità che si protrae nel matrimonio, la straordinarietà – per quanto sotto traccia – di Gesù, la rettitudine di Giuseppe. Per giunta l’opera è frutto di studi molto accurati sulle ambientazioni e il coinvolgimento di attori non professionisti, gente del posto, conferisce al film quel senso di autenticità che, va detto, il doppiaggio italiano smarrisce.Riconoscendo al film il diritto di perlustrare un territorio sconosciuto, con una metodologia diversa, questa pellicola può offrire spunti molto ricchi, soprattutto all’interno di percorsi formativi. Ne citiamo alcuni.

Questo film di Guido Chiesa annulla non solo la divinità di Gesù ma anche la sua storicità! Nel film di Guido Chiesa Maria la madre di Gesù è il contrario di come insegnano i Vangeli, e i dogmi mariani!
